Meet the team
Nicky and Sila Lee (the couple who desigend the course) met as teenagers in West Cork in the UK and married in 1976. In more than 40 years of marriage, Nicky and Sila have lived in Japan, the North East of England and central London. They have four children, now all married, and eleven grandchildren.
Nicky and Sila have run the Marriage Course since 1996, and many couples have found their marriages enriched through attending these courses. For some, the course has literally saved their marriage from separation or divorce.
For several decades, Nicky and Sila have been increasingly involved in seeking to help other marriages. They have seen hundreds of couples and have faced with them a range of diverse and difficult issues. From all of them, and from their own marriage, they have learnt that the marriage relationship is not always easy, but it is highly rewarding. Over 1.5 million couples have now been on these courses in many different countries and languages around the world.
Steve and Anna (the couple who are running the course) met at university and married in 2004 before moving to Canberra in 2006. Over more than two decades of marriage, they have built their life together in the city, raising kids and embedding deeply in Tuggeranong. The 2004 version of them thought that being married was a piece of cake. Two decades on they’ve figured out, needs investment if you’re going to get the best out of it.
Both Steve and Anna serve as pastors at Renew Anglican Church, where they are committed to helping people grow into flourishing whole people with strong relationships, and engaged thoughtfully with the world around them. They’re delighted to be able to host people through this course and hope it’ll be a blessing to the marriages of Canberra.
